Persistent Links

A persistent link:

  • is meant to be consistent for a long time
  • connects you specifically & directly to the document
  • is a URL unique to that item
    • a persistent link might look something like: http://search.ebscohost.com.ezpxy.fanshawec.ca/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=110235100
  • can be created for articles found in all EBSCO & ProQuest databases

To obtain the URL for a persistent link:

 

In EBSCO, after your search, open the selected item by clicking on the title.

  • click on Permalink in the right sidebar.
  • The URL that appears in the Permalink box above the title of the item is the persistent link.
  • Copy and paste to save it for future use.ebsco

In ProQuest, after your search, open the selected item by clicking on the title.

  • Click on the Abstract/Details tab.
  • Scroll down to Details & look for the Document URL. This is your persistent link.

When accessing a persistent link, you may be prompted by EZProxy to enter your Fanshawe College username.
