Fanshawe students and employees can show off their creativity with customized vinyl stickers, decals, labels, t-shirts, sweaters, tote bags, and more! Make all of these projects with the Roland BN2-20A and Hotronix Heat Press in the Makerspace.

How to Use the Vinyl Cutter & Printer

  • The Roland BN2-20A contains an inkjet printer that will either print or cut on calendar white vinyl or heat-transfer vinyl (HTV)
  • The white calendar vinyl is suitable for projects such as stickers, decals, labels, and more
  • The white heat-transfer can be heat pressed onto t-shirts, sweater, tote bags, and more
  • Media width is 20″ maximum with an 18″ printable width
  • Colour configuration will be CMYK
  • Heat press is used to adhere HTV to fabric or garment
  • Machine setup and operations completed by Makerspace Technical Support
  • Heat press setup completed by Makerspace Technical Support with heat press operation open to all after safety briefing
  • .pdf, .jpeg, .png, .ai, .svg, .psd., and .eps are all accepted file formats
  • File type needed is dependent on how final product is to look
  • If an image needs cut lines around shapes or outline, a .png with a transparent background is ideal
  • If an image needs to be cut around a border, .jpeg or .pdf are ideal formats
  • The Roland BN2-20A prints on white vinyl and you will need to weed away excess vinyl. If working with an image that requires cutting around shapes or an outline, more weeding is required
  • Size of heat press is 16″x20″
  • Heat transfer vinyl is compatible with the following materials:
    • 100% Cotton
    • 100% Polyester
    • 100% Preshrunk Cotton
    • Cordura®
    • Cotton/Poly Blends
    • Leather
    • Lycra®/Spandex Blends
    • Neoprene
    • Nylon
